Reb Shlomo Carlebach


Reb Shlomo Carlebach was born in Berlin in 1925. Fondly known as Reb Shlomo, he was a great Torah Scholar, teacher, storyteller, musician and friends to an endless people all over the world.

Reb Shlomo founded a Shul in California called ‘The House of Love and Prayer’ and ‘The Carlebach Shul’ in New York City.  Being a great lover of Eretz Yisroel, Reb Shlomo established a community in Mevo Modiim called ‘The Moshav’. Reb Shlomo’s legacy also includes the thousands of songs (niggunim) that he composed which are sang in countless Shuls every Shabbat and Yom Tov throughout the world. Reb Shlomo’s words of Torah were often sourced from the great Chassidic masters such as the Baal Shem tov, The Maagid of Mezridtch, The Ishpitzer Rebbe, The Aish Kodesh and many more.

Yeshivat Simchat Shlomo is honored to have a Yeshiva in the memory of our teacher Reb Shlomo. As Reb Shlomo taught us, we believe that Torah that comes from the heart can enter the heart. We do our best to always teach Torah with Joy!
