Announcing the YSS Kollel!

Announcement and Call for Applicants

The Yeshivat Simchat Shlomo Kollel Program

With thanks to Hashem we are pleased to announce that Yeshivat Simchat Shlomo will be opening a small men’s morning Kollel starting this coming Elul.
The learning program will consist of an integrated and unique blend of Talmud studies, the Chassidut of The Baal Shem Tov, Chabad, Breslov, Ishbitz, Rav Kook, and in depth study of Reb Shlomo Carlebach’s teachings.
The Kollel program will begin in the month of Elul with intensive study of topics related to tshuvah, Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot.  In addition, the Kollel will invite various scholars to introduce each topic of study and later deliver a comprehensive shiur on the topic.  There will also be a two hour discussion at the end of each week to delve into the potential personal application of that which has been studied.
The Kollel will be offering a modest stipend to appropriate participants.

  • 5-6 applicants will be accepted
  • The hours will be 9:30-12:30 Sunday through Thursday and the weekly discussion will take place Thursday afternoon from 12:45-2pm

A commitment of at least one zman will be required to join the program
We are looking for candidates who are:

  • capable of delving into Talmud and Chasidic texts
  • seriously committed to Torah study
  • seeking to integrate the study of Chasidut into their learning and daily lives
  • have a deep belief in the unity of Am Yisrael and are yearning to manifest Ahavat Yisrael across the entire        Jewish spectrum

Those who are interested are asked to send us a letter of application including a description of their background in Jewish and general studies, their present occupation, levels of communal involvement, aspirations and goals, and a few words about why they would like to be members of this Kolle
The first zman will run from Sept. 5th until October 6th.  We may be accepting new applicants for a second zman from October 24th until December 22nd.
