“Through the years since I’ve made aliya, I have been involved in Torah learning.  Every year I have taken advantage of the shiurim at Yeshivat Simchat Shlomo, some years more often and some years less so.

… I really want to [learn] in Hebrew (a more intimate connection with the text and it improves my Hebrew at the same time), however there are a few shiurim that I continue to attend in English at YSS whenever my schedule permits.  These are the daily Tanya shiur, Rav Fink’s halacha shiur andYehudis Golshevsky’s Shir haShirim shiur. As you can tell, I enjoy classes that follow a text (Tanya and Shir ha Shirim) with teachers that are able to draw connections both within the text and from the text to our own lives and our own developing connections with haKodesh Baruch Hu.  Rav Fink’s dry humor and ability to concisely address the questions that the women bring to the table fascinates me.  He opens every shiur with:  ‘Are there are any questions?’ and he doesn’t mean questions from last time.  He means are there any issues in halacha that you want addressed — whether or not they were on the agenda for the day or not.”
